Was anticipating this phone for some time with it's 8 megapixel camera, stylish exterior,etc. With some time under my belt with this thing I can say that it does have some serious flaws which are not compatible with my needs. I use this phone on the TMobile network along with my hacked Iphone3G which in itself is a truly incredible piece of hardware.

Sound/Music quality:
Excellent. Phone exhibits great sound quality on both sides of the call. Music sounds good and on par with my Iphone. Speake......
I am a busy mother of two young children, work full-time, take online classes, and do freelance graphic design. I upgraded to the Memoir as an alternative to carrying my phone, camera, and Palm handheld everywhere I go. Suprisingly, and despite other reviews, the camera is the best part about this phone. The color depth and clarity of pictures is comparable to my 12 MP Canon Powershot. Any that I have taken inside have turned out well, even though other reviews say otherwise. No, it doesn't......
I've been waiting for a good camera phone for a long time, and it seemed like the Memoir was the answer for me. Unfortunately, it falls just a little bit short on the camera side.

Pros:
*Looks sharp
*Good call quality
*Great music quality, I was surprised at the speaker quality, and it's easy to set any mp3 to be a ring tone.
*Nice voice dialing, never really thought I'd need it, but I used it.
*Great pictures in good light.
Cons:
*Touch screen isn't responsive enough, playing around with my Me......
Pretty nice phone overall. The camera flash could be improved. It doesn't have enought flash for indoor pics.......
The only way the GPS on this phone works is if you subscribe to the Telenav software service for a fee of $9.99 a month. The phone is unable to download the free google maps program which will do the same job for free. Also the GPS software will waste a few minutes while it connects to Telenav to verify your account. After that you still have to go into the menu to activate your gps reciever and wait a few minutes to get a signal.
That is the biggest complaint I have about this phone. I up......

Almost Perfect
Pros: The haptic feedback is very responsive, the business card reader works fantastic (take a picture of a business card and it stores it as a new contact), the etiquette mode (face down the phone doesn't ring) is really nice too. Easy sync with e-mail.

Cons: I really didn't like the widget interface, but thankfully it is easy to change and aftermarket options like SPB are great alternatives. It is pretty crucial to remap the task switcher to a key so you can kill programs, otherwise windows slows down.

Summary: I have been a long time Treo user, and my last one ran windows mobile instead of the palm system. Windows mobile is really very functional but it tends to leave programs running in the background regardless of what phone you use. Dell addressed this in their PDAs with a task switcher, and I'm very glad to see a similar program employed on the Omnia. Remapping the keys on the side is very simple and makes pulling up the task switcher very easy and keeps windows running smoothly.

Before I go into details on some of the various qualities of this phone I want to emphasize a couple of things. First, while this phone is advertised as having GPS abilities, these are strictly tied to Verizon's Navigator Service, if you're looking to replace your stand alone GPS with a phone and don't want to pay $9.95 a month this phone currently locks you from using any other navigation service. Accordingly the "GeoTagging" feature for photos that is available on the unlocked version of this phone isn't currently available on the Verizon version. I say right now because it is always possible that Verizon will release a firmware update down the road that allows some of these features, but you should know before you buy just what you're getting. That said, still a pretty awesome phone!

The size and weight of the phone is great, it isn't heavy, doesn't weigh down your pockets, but it has some heft to it so you don't feel like you're playing with a toy or something easily broken (that said, I don't think this phone would do well being dropped much). It fits comfortably in my pocket, no bulge. There is an available holster case for it, but personally I've never liked having my phone on my waist.

Typing --
This was where I really expected the most trouble with the phone. I'm used to real keys and so the touch screen keyboard worried me. It's not as effective or quick as my Treo, but I think speed will improve with some practice. That said, typing in portrait mode is very difficult and it is almost a requirement to turn the phone to landscape to type any message. You can change the type method from keyboard to a T9 style number pad which does help vertical typing considerably.

Call Quality --
After all, this is a phone. Calls came through very clearly, and the people on the other end had no trouble hearing me. The speaker phone is loud enough to be heard over ambient noise and does a good job of picking up voice too. The listener on the other end did say they could hear a lot of background noise when on speaker phone so it might be better used in an office setting or someplace where you can limit the amount of noise around you. Still, for as often as anyone uses speakerphone it is more than adequate.

The interface --
I have to give credit to Samsung for their widget interface. I personally don't like it, but I am a creature of habit and know where stuff is on my old phone and just wanted to recreate that. My girlfriend loved the widgets, they were simple enough to her to be able to be comfortable navigating the phone in about half an hour. They might not be the first choice for more serious users, but they do a good job making windows mobile a bit more finger friendly.

Battery Life --
Well this depends... I've enjoyed playing with my phone pretty much nonstop since I got it, and that screen does seem to kill the battery pretty quick. I haven't made it all the way through the day without needing to plug it in, but I've found that if I plug it into my computer while at my desk, or into my car while I'm driving it will do very well staying fully charged. Wouldn't wander off without a power source for more than a day though.

The stylus--
I seriously doubt anyone will use this thing, it might have been a nice addition had they been able to build it into the body of the phone instead but putting it on a little leash just makes it impractical.

The Camera--
I haven't fully explored all of the built in options as far as editing goes, but so far it seems pretty good. The flash isn't a flash in the traditional sense you might be used to. It is a very bright LED that does a good job for subjects that aren't more than maybe 4 or 5 feet away, but you're not going to light up a room with it or anything, keep your expectation reasonable and you'll be pleasantly surprised with it's effectiveness. (The flash also doubles as a flashlight which is an interesting feature). The downside to the LED flash is that I'm having trouble with Red Eye, but that is so easy to edit these days that it's hardly worth mentioning.

All in all... If you're looking for a multimedia phone with smart phone abilities this is a great phone. If you're looking primarily for a phone to handle e-mails then you might find the touch keyboard on this a little aggravating. If you're a seasoned windows mobile user the phone is exactly what you're used to but better, if you're a cross over from Blackberry, or this is your first foray into the smart phone world the widget interface is simple enough you should be comfortable within half an hour or so. The phone has put an emphasis on media playback, and if you're looking for a phone that can handle e-mail but really serves as an mp3 player, decent camera, web-browsing, and occasional video watching, this is about as good as they come.

I would absolutely recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good all in one sort of phone, with the caveat that long e-mails aren't as easy as they might be on other devices. It's still windows, it still slows down some, and it is almost impossible to respond to messages one handed (which I suppose you shouldn't be doing anyway) and I kind of wish they had built in a stylus (could have even made it the FM's ant. since to use that feature you have to plug something else in). All those things in mind I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Surprisingly pleased with this WinMo device
I am only reviewing Verizon's variant of the Samsung Omnia (i910) because the cost of the data plan is a separate issue from the build quality, usability, and performance of their device offering. If anything, EVDO-Rev A connectivity has allowed me to be more productive and provides hours of entertainment where wifi is not available.

Pros:
-Typical WinMo software (MS Mobile Office Suite, Remote Desktop, Outlook, ability to "cut and paste")
-ActiveSync (Synchronizes Outlook e-mail, calendar, contacts, etc.)
-Highly customizable interface (SPB, S2U2, Winterface, etc.)
-Haptic-feedback keyboard (landscape and portrait)
-5 megapixel camera w/ very good features & settings (timer, continuous, mosaic, smile detect, panoramic, etc.)
-Video capture
-Plays multiple commonly used video formats (including DivX)
-Call Quality (excellent speakerphone)

-Awkward screen resolution (240x400 pixels)
-CDMA (Unable to use this phone in Europe and most of Asia)
-GPS is only usable with Verizon's proprietary software (This will either change when the hack is ready or Verizon gives in with a firmware update)
-Multiple vibrate profiles, but I can't feel the phone vibrate in my pocket with any of them
-Volume and availability of good apps are nowhere near what's out there for iPhone

HONEST review of the OMNIA...Yes, the PHONE...not VZW's Data policy
Wow...I'm appalled at the child-like behaviour being thrown around here. If you don't like the policy, don't get a phone that is under said policy.

As for the Phone itself, it is awesome. Not quite so out of the box, but with a few relatively easy to find apps, it becomes a powerhouse real quick. Details below.

Phone:
Signal...good, not great
Call Quality...excellent

Interface:
TouchWiz is take or leave. I recommend a replacement, such as SPB Shell or Manila 2D
Screen is responsive, sometimes with a little lag
Screen resolution and color depth could be more, but it's still nothing to complain about
Optical mouse input makes the optional (And annoying) dangling stylus an option, instead of a necessity. Works great.

Browsers:
Opera is GREAT
IE is horrible
Testing out Bolt and it looks to be a fast, smooth setup, so far I am impressed with this soon to be released browser.

Camera and Media
5.0 MP and it works well. Better than the Dare, which I was also impressed with
Touch Player works pretty well. Indexes all media for fast viewing

Overall, I would have to say I am very impressed with the phone, and look forward to what else the community of smartphone gurus and users come up with next.

As for the whiners...yes, it requires a data plan. Yes it is more expensive. But I hope if you want to send a message to VZW, and AT&T (Who has the same policy on their favorite kid, the iPhone), you do so in a mature, consumer-like manner and petition either the regulators and/or the companies to change their policies. If you aren't going to do more than whine and complain, just go away. If you are going to DO SOMETHING...go right ahead. But Samsung developed a great phone, and deserves respect for it, not getting bashed for who sells it.

OMNIA, A GREAT TOUCHSCREEN PHONE WITH LOTS OF FEATURES
I am glad I bought this phone. I fell in love with it since I got it out of the box.

PROS:

* Slim design, executive look
* Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (great improvement)
* AGPS. 100% accurate when you choose My Location. Associated with
google maps is an A+. (Why pay for something that is already part of the
phone...That goes for you VERIZON!!!!).
* Opera Browser works great (sorry Internet Explorer)
* Touchscreen is very responsive (if you do not want screen to vibrate,
you can disable it in SETTINGS.
* Stylus, I do not use it. my fingers do the job excellent.
* Push E-Mail. I get all my emails from work, POP accounts, Gmail, (which
is already integrated in the phone), and of course windows live
messenger.
* Video player is very good, good resolution, great audio. (One thing
I dicovered today is that I can listen to Internet radio, WOW!!)
* My 5 Faves...NOT REALLY, but keep reading, (in this case 4 faves, yes, one of the widgets lets you add 4
people you call the most just like my five faves.) I am using my Omnia
with T-mobile and this came very handy.)
* Microsoft Office, YES! you have Excel, Word, Power Point. All 3 are
mobile version, you can read and edit any documents as you wish. you
also can read .pdf files, isn't that something?? you will love this
phone.

CONS:

* I personaly, don't have any negative comments on this phone, but I will
mention one that I know bothers some people out there, that is:

NO 3G Network compatibility in the USA. This phone was made exclusively
for Asia and Europe and their 3G works on a different band. But I tell
you one thing, Internet over EDGE is very good, so I really don't care
at all about 3G speed. So keep this in mind....NO 3G in the USA.

Over All, this is a great phone. you will have to take your time to play with it to find all its features and how to make them work for you. Don't get frustrated if you don't get it to work the way you want the first time. It took me a good week to figure this phone out and now I am very excited I chose this phone. Iphone is a thing of the past, which I never had but my friends have it and some of them are not too happy with it, plus, they got stuck in a contract. Here you don't have to do that.

Failure in its primary function
23 more months. I too have a Samsung Omnia. As you read the reviews everyone sings the praises of all the "features" of this phone. I bought this phone for 2 things- to take and make cell calls and to access Excel spreadsheets when I'm in the field.
Load up a spread sheet and you can see 2-3 rows and 2-3 columns which is fine until the data is spread out over 4-6 rows/columns. Guess I'll keep toting my laptop.
Now the calls - you want to put the call on speaker? First you have to hit the little mouse pad to remove the stupid black box, then hit the speaker button -Oh, I'm sorry did I lose the call?
Did you miss a call? I don't know. First you have to pick up the phone - shake it repeatedly to switch back to portrait, enter your security code then you may see a box that tells you a phone number. Does it tell you what time or if they left a voice mail - no that would be too convenient.
If you are thinking it may be time to upgrade your phone I strongly recommend you go into the providers store and get a "hands-on" experience because it may just turn out the phone doesn't do the simple things. 23 more months, sigh.

great device but some serious shortfalls
I decided to stay with Verizon instead of switching to ATT to go with the Apple Iphone.

I am an early adapter, I picked my omnia over the blackberry storm when both had just come out in january 09.

The Omnia offered far better processing speed, immensley better use of the touch screen technology, better screen resolution, full version of MS office rather than just a viewer and the use of Internet Explorer Mobile for internet viewing as well as Opera (not able to view all internet pages).

The camera was superior, the integration with outlook was phenominal and the bundled apps were perfect.

Learning curve on the Keyboard was tough but manageable.

Althouth I believe this product is electronically far superior to the Iphone and Storm, there are some serious issues that have not - and probably will never be resolved as Samsung is already moving on to their next "superphone" without resolution of problems with this one and Microsoft has already (at the announcement of this phone) announced the release date of Windows Mobile 7.0..

Although the Iphone is slower and has less memory, it has a far more predictable speed allowing for constant rate of typing and response . . the Omnia - like anything running Windows - bogs down over the course of the day making the search and input speed vary. This is fine until you figure out how to use the keyboard to do email and are maddly typing only to find that the phone is three letters behind you...A simple reset solves the issue but . . . . you dont have to reset an Iphone every day!

The battery life is no where near advertized. If I unplug the phone at 7AM it starts complaining that a recharge is necessary by 5PM . . just in time for the evening commute- heck of a time for the cell phone to run out!

If you are accessing the internet or listenting to music or a movie, you get about 6 hrs before the low battery alarm starts chiming.

Standby time is about 36 hrs - lot of good that does though!

Apple had similar issues with their phones and worked some fixes on the early ones, Samsung has no intention.

When you are on a high call day . .or watching a video on the phone, the phone gets hot . . my IR thermometer says over 103 degrees . . .Samsung says this is normal and fine . . .dont know about that as there is a Lithium Polymer battery in there and that is getting hot too.

I have had two phones and they both acted the same way, this is a design issue not a particular unit.

The biggest reason to think carefully about the purchase of this phone is that there are NO aftermarket apps that mix well with Mobile 6.1 and none on the horizon that are reasonable.

I tried to find a calculator to figure time cards, the Blackberry progam was 9.99, the palm version was 4.99, the Iphone app was 9.99 and the windows mobile version - with no promise of compatibility with 6.1 - was 49.99.

Check on Amazon, downloads.com and try to find aftermarket software for windows 6. . . .not much . . .

Go to Apple Store and see how many apps are out there for Iphone . . heck, there is even an app that allows you to use it as a flute!

I like the Omnia even with it's faults but wish I had known then what I know now . . If you have no intention of doing anything other than what this phone has built into it, then it is better than an Iphone. If you want to watch movies and listen to tunes, have some odd and end games for the train ride home at night, then dont waste your time with this phone, buy an Iphone.

I like this phone. I'm not a texter so don't use this review for anything to do w/ texting. I like all the features of the phone though. The battery lasts about a week between charges. Had for about a month or so. The only down side is I wish the backlite timer would stay on for more than 10 secs.......

I have owned this type of phone for over a year now and it really has just been a hassle the entire time. THREE times, I have had to send this phone back and have a replacement one sent back to me. For some unknown reason, this phone will just loose service one day and never get it back. The guys at ATT never can explain it, but it always results in me having a buy a temporary phone while I am waiting on a new one to arrive. My roommates also have ATT and NEVER lose service in our home; with this phone, however, I constantly am missing calls because it has lost service. Not to mention I repeatedly have dropped calls. Ultimately, I ended up buying another phone from the Internet because this phone is simply too unreliable. I originally purchased this phone because of slim design and the appealing features, but at the end of the day, I really just want a phone that works. ......

Samsung phone is OK. AT&T is OK - unless you expect them to honor the one year warranty. They won't. They just glibly state that the phone has water damage and the customer has no recourse whatsoever. For starters, the warranty SAYS NOTHING ABOUT WATER DAMAGE. Under the cover next to the battery is a white square. If that square ever turns red, it proves to them [but certainly not the world] that the phone has water damage. My phone was never dropped in water, never rained on, never steamed, never sprayed and never spat upon. It quit working properly after 8 months. When asked, at the AT&T store, to honor the one year warranty they held their pompous noses high and refused any negotiations whatsoever. I believe they have a cozy way of skirting the warranty. The white square is designed to slowly change to red by virtue of the moisture in one's breath while talking on the phone and/or the high humidity conditions generated in one's pocket from his body warmth and mild perspiration. They blatantly blame the customer instead of admitting this cozy little subterfuge then refuse to honor the warranty. They should be arrested and incarcerated. Spend the extra $5 per month to get the insurance and maybe you will get a fair deal when your phone stops working properly and the ALMIGHTY white square under the cover has turned to scarlet [in their eyes, proving the hapless customer damned and sinful]. ......

I wish I had selected this one for myself. The A747 has a bigger screen than the A737 (comparing both phones my kids have), and has clear menus. The central control area lets your finger just slide easily around to all the compass points to hit your shortcuts. Good sound & picture quality, uses a standard mini SD card you can get cheaply nearly anywhere. Holds lots of mp3s. Keypad is excellent size for large fingers (and moms with blurry eyesight) just the right size for typing, and this model feels right in your hand. This flip phone is easy to open and feels solidly made. My teenager has it, but I'd like to swap. Too bad he won't appreciate my phone; it's pink!......

I'm on my second one - the first was replaced under warranty because it would drain the battery - it would act as if a program were running, even when it wasn't supposed to be, thus draining the battery. On the replacement, I've deliberately drained the battery, plugged into the charger overnight, and when I unplug it in the morning it says "low bat'. However, if I turn the phone off and turn it back on, it shows a full battery. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this phone for another 19 months under my ATT plan. Wish I'd never bought it.......

Pretty good, but needs higher volume
To start off, I really shouldn't be complaining at all about this headset: I got it on discount for 25 dollars then used a mail-in rebate to get it for 5 dollars. So, for that price, this is best headset in the history of man. However, there is one issue with this headset: the volume does not go loud enough. People I speak to on it can hear me fine and do not even realize that I am on a headset. However, I often have trouble hearing other people. It seems that even the loudest volume setting is quite low. I've used other headsets just fine, so I know its not just my ears or my phone. However, for five dollars this is a pretty minor complaint. If you are paying full price for this product however, you might want to look at some other headsets in the same range that have higher volume levels.

Great Bluetooth Headset for the price
Fits much better than my old Motorola H700 due to the soft, form-fitting ear piece and is light as a feather compared to my Plantronics 510. I found that I needed to use the plastic ear hook to keep the unit in place, and it was difficult to hear the other person until I cranked up the volume.
However, you can't beat the price and it was a cinch to setup (took me less than 2 minutes to pair with my BlackBerry). If you are like me and use your Bluetooth exclusively in the car, you will want to also pick up a car charger accessory.
Bottom line: great (inexpensive) Bluetooth headset that is easy to setup and is so light and comfortable that you will forget you are even wearing it. Also, the Multi-function button is easy to find (slightly raised), but you will need to learn how to use it correctly as it powers the unit on and off, answers calls, redials your last call, ends a call, rejects a caller, answers a second call, and places a caller on hold! All from one little button!

Ok for the price (discounted)
I had read the reviews about it not fitting well in the ear for most people, so I was expecting that. But the Bluetooth connection is not that good either.
If I wear the headset on one side, and my phone is on a pocket on the other side, there are lots of interference.
My phone is a Nokia N80, with which I have no problem using Bluetooth to connect to computers or other phones at several feet, so I doubt the problem is the phone's Bluetooth transmitter.

Everything is as described, works well. I had my doubts because of the low price, $12.99. The software with the USB cable installed easily although I didn't really need it for simple data transfer, the phone connects directly with the cable and is recognized by Win XP as a removable drive. The software has USB drivers if needed and "Samsung PC Studio3". The studio is a home for all the software stuff. It access 8 different features like "Phone Editor", "Message Manager" "Multimedia Player" and "PC Sync". Too much to go into here. I haven't played with them all but they seem worthy. I also like the silicone skin too, it fits well, has holes for the earphone jack and USB port as well as a port for the camera and an opening on the end for the microphone and red notification light. It also has fitted areas for the buttons on the sides. The chargers... well, what can I say, they work. Not much to review there.

Great price!
Everything works fine. No problems. While the CD "USB Data Cable Driver" is pictured, it does not come with the set. And note that nowhere does it say that it will.

Great technology, doesn't fit or stay in the ear
This is my third try at a bluetooth headset and I've finally found one that I'm happy with.

Tech: It is loud enough that you don't have to put your finger in your other ear, it's easy to tell if it is on or not (blinks every two seconds), the other person can hear you without much interference, it charges quickly and seems to hold the charge for an adequate amount of time, and it automatically picks up the call when you dial out or answer a call. My last Motorola did not do this. You had to dial the number then click either the headset or the bluetooth button on the phone to transfer it. The Samsung does this automatically. (I assume most headsets do this since no one comments on this, but this is an important feature.)

Fit: This is the major drawback, it will not fit in or stay in my ear, but there is a simple solution. I am not sure exactly what Samsung was thinking with this design. I have medium to larger ears and I could not get this headset into my ear at all. It simply hung precariously from the small "u" at the bottom of my ear and I actually had to set it for the opposite ear to accomplish this. I am not sure what this little hook thing is or why they call it a hook - it doesn't do ANYTHING. But, I liked the functionality of the headset so much I decided to purchase some Jabra ear gels and see if they would fit. This worked like a charm and my Samsung now fits snugly in my ear canal and never fall out. There is a marginal loss of volume, but it is still adequate. With this fix, I would highly recommend the headset as a great value, and the best one overall that I have tried. It is great for someone who wears glasses too as it doesn't go over the ear.

Best Bluetooth 2.0 Headset
I own a Blackberry 7250 and this Samsung WEP200 is the best Bluetooth Headset I've owned. I also own a Belkin which is a piece of >>>>. I've tried the Motorola H500 and it's better then the Belkin, but not even close to this Samsung headset. It has echo cancellation (which was a problem with the other two, Echo makes it hard for the other phone user to understand you), an easy volumne control, and a comfortable earpiece. This is Bluetooth 2.0 and it's worth the purchase price.

a note about Samsung customer service
Did you ever see "Better Off Dead"? Do you remember the paper boy that was stalking John Cusack. Remember what he kept saying? "I want my two dollars." Well, Samsung... I want my two dollar ear hook!

This product, the headset itself, works fine. No complaints. Here's a note, however, about a strange (astounding, really) policy that Samsung customer service has.

I've had this headset for a couple of weeks and the ear hook breaks. The headset fits okay without it, but overall, I like the fit with the ear hook better. A little annoying that it breaks so soon, but I think, "No big deal. Surely Samsung will send me another $2 ear hook. I'm well within the warranty period."

Guess what! NOT the case.

I call Samsung. I explain my deal. The reps says, "Nope. Not covered under the warranty." I say, "Really? A brand new $2 part isn't covered." She says, "Nope. Not covered." I say, "?????????" She says, "Sorry. The only way to get a new one is to pay for one yourself." I press the case a little. She stands firm. "That's the policy, sir." I hang up, completely baffled (and more than a little miffed).

Guess what, Samsung. The one I just bought for my wife... It's going back-- unopened.

Samsung saved $2 on the broken ear hook (BTW, normal use- no strange ear gymnastics on my part-- I put the thing over my ear and the headset falls off the hook), but lost the sale of the headset I bought for my sweetheart. I'm having trouble thinking I'll buy anything from Samsung if a clearly defective $2 part isn't covered under the warranty.

So here's my rating:

Product - 5 stars. Works great.
Minus 1 star for the cheapo ear hook
Minus 1 star for the really baffling policy of not covering a brand new product under warranty.

Good, Cheap Charger
Charger has worked great for months and cost a fraction of the price if bought in a store.

Retractable car charger
love the retractable feature. Cord is a little flimsy-could be stronger, especially since it is being pulled on more often than a regular charger.

Don't buy
This item lasted about 3 weeks before it broke. The very thin retractable cord is too flimsy and weak to survive regular use. Save your few dollars on the postage and buy a charger at Target that is flexible in fitting many different phones.

Poor Fitment, overpriced at $10

The Black Solid Silicone Skin Cover Case Cell Phone Protector for Samsung Eternity A867 is an OK product for the price. Here's my summary after a few days of having it on my phone:

Pros:
-Protects phone until you get something better.
-Silicone provides a better grip

Cons:
-Very poor fitment. With a slight side sqeeze, the phone can be pushed out of the cover. Over time this would probably stretch out and deem this product useless. "Skin" this is not.
- Due to the poor fitment, the volume, camera, unlock, and multitask buttons are very difficult to depress. It's so loose you have to slide your finger around to find the button.
-On the bottom side of the phone, the cover has a large opening for side to side. I thought this was odd since the only reason for this opening was to allow access to the mic. Anyway, this opening creates a narrow strip of silicone below the Talk, Back, and End buttons. After only a few days of use, it has start to sag.
-Openings at the headphone and data jack are poorly cut. Should have had a bevel similar to the camera opening.

I gave it 2 star because it has provided some protection for my lovely A867 until my invisi-shield arrives.

this is what i need so the phone would not slide out of my hand. it will stay where i put it in the pocket or the table. anyone that gets this phone should get one of the silicone protectors.

Creative Design but Poor Phone
Pros: Creative use of buttons, big screen, qwerty keyboard
Cons: Doesn't sync with Outlook, clunky user interface, muddled audio in ear piece/speakerphone

I really have to give credit to Samsung because of the creatively designed keypad, but I don't recommend this phone overall. The phone user interface isn't simple, and is made somewhat more complicated because they keyboard layout is constantly changing based on what screen you're on. For example, there's an awkward key layout in some versions of the layout, takes too many keystrokes to do things like turn off an alarm (I guess I've been spoiled by almost always owning Nokias, as they tend to have the best-designed user interfaces). Aside from the clumsy UI, the biggest thing that killed this for our family was its inability to sync contacts and calendar events with Outlook. Maybe there's a way to do it with a combination of MyVerizon and USB cables, but its not worth the effort, especially when I can switch to a Nokia that takes care of it (as an aside, I switched to AT&T a week later because of the poor phone selection at Verizon. Also, Verizon disables any Bluetooth syncing capabilities with Outlook, even for the few Nokias they offer.)

Overall, the phone is designed creatively, but its hip design doesn't make up for its poor UI and lack of features that were essential to me.

Nice phone, but features don't deliver
I've had this phone for a couple of months. It's pretty cool in the way the screen and keypad can be used in either portrait or landscape. However, the keys don't have good tactile feedback. I have to type with my fingernail in order to press the keys hard enough and accurately. Its voice recognition software is worthless, so if you are accustomed to using this feature to dial (such as in the car using an earpiece), don't bother. The camera and camcorder work very well and the quality of the pictures and display are really good. The battery in this phone doesn't last near as long as my old LG, however this phone has many more features, so I think the battery life is acceptable. It's got a sleek design and it's fun to use, however, I don't think I'd buy another one because of the usability issues.

OK Phone, Bluetooth stereo audio is awful, voice recognition is unusable
The real standout feature on this phone is keyboard. I made the mistake of assuming that the mp3 bluetooth audio would be at least as good as my original LG chocolate from 3 years ago, especially since verizon just copies its old OS onto everything. The bluetooth stereo is almost unusable, very tinny, no way to adjust the sound profile. If you plug a wire in it sounds great, but not very useful. Phone call quality is ok. it has a spot for upto 16GB card, which would be perfect if it was useful as an MP3 player. If it wasn't too late to return it , I would. Also the Voice recognition is not accurate or useful, something else that used to work flawlessly with my 3yr old chocolate.

Could be a great phone, but the ROM all of these are loaded with is very buggy. ATT sent me 3 other phones all of which had the same issues and Amazon even sent me another new one and it had problems as well. Amazon was supposed to pull these from their stock, but I doubt they will...everyone will just keep selling them as long as there is a sucker to buy them I guess. Samsung doesn't appear to care that there are issues either. What I advise is buying an HTC Fuze instead. ATT finally gave ......

I bought this as a replacement for my LG KU990R "Viewty." It had a 5 megapixel camera, but the Samsung M8800 "Pixon" has an 8-megapixel camera. The Pixon is the Innov8's sister phone. The Innov8 is a Symbian-type sliding phone, but the Pixon is a full touch screen model. The Pixon has the same 3.2-inch touch screen as the Samsung Behold, Eternity, and Omnia. The screen is responsive, big, and bright. There are just three hard keys, a call send/call log, end/on-off, and a back button in the middle. What makes Samsung's phones unique is their use of the TouchWhiz interface and on-screen application icons called widgets. Samsung's TouchWhiz interface is also found on the Behold, Eternity, Omnia, and F480 "Tocco." There are tons of cool features in here. The phone is built around the camera which is also a very good video camera that shoots 720i HD video. The multimedia player is easy to use and plays MP3's MPEG's, AVI's, WMA's, WMV, WAV, MPEG-4, and DivX files. There are also video and photo-editing programs. The camera takes awesome pictures for a cell phone. Colors are vibrant and realistic, and the LED flash works well up close, but forget about it working in a dark room if your subject is over 3 feet away.

The phone itself is a GSM quad-band phone, so it will work all over the world. It has Edge and 3G 7.2 mb/s HSDPA, but 3G will not work in the USA. I use it on T-Mobile and it works just fine. You'll have to set it up for T-Zones though, and until you do, it will accept text messages, but won't accept multimedia messages and you cannot use T-Zones. Calls come in loud and clear. The speaker phone is great.

People probably want to compare the Pixon to LG's 8-megapixel Renoir. In my opinion, the Pixon is a much better phone. LG tries hard to copy Samsung's TouchWhiz interface and widgets, and does pretty good, but it's not the same. The LG's screen is smaller (3.0 inches), and not as sensitive to touch inputs. The Pixon's camera is also better, but not by much. It's hard to notice the difference, but Samsung's camera does a better job with color reproduction, and the camera interface is much eaiser to use. Texting on the Pixon is also better thanks to a larger computer-like virtual QWERTY keyboard. Overall, both are good phones and cameras, but the Pixon wins the phone war with user-friendliness, functions, and a better camera.

The bad: Despite a 1000mAh battery, this phone uses a lot of juice. It is kind of discomforting seeing the battery indicator going from 5 bars to 3 in just 1 day. Fully charged and occasionally used, the battery will be drained in 2-3 days. My LG Viewty and Motorola E6's batteries lasted much longer, but then again because this phone has a serious camera, in all fairness the battery life is not too bad. Just keep it charged.

Samsung has made a great phone that's also a good camera. As hard as it is to get everything right, Samsung does a pretty good job.

I bought this phone two weeks ago, after the last phone died. (Previous phone was a horrible cheap temporary thing, battery barely lasting 5 hours with no use.) Obviously, I was thoroughly ready to love this phone, but hope to still be objective.
Perks I like are: the color choices (I like my phone to stand out a little if only so I don't leave it somewhere), ease of use on the slide (open/close), the way the buttons lock when the phone is slid closed (but are easily unlocked), the overall size-- it fits perfectly in a back pocket, and the screen size (much larger than the flip or bar phones I've seen, excluding touch screen ones).
I'm still getting used to typing my messages out on the keyboard, the buttons are a little small and I had come to rely a little too heavily on T9 predictive text to spell-check for me.
The battery life is about average, I think, it does fine with normal use for about three days without charge. I'm embarrassed to say that I've dropped the phone a few times already, on the cement driveway, and it's held up like a champ with no dings or scratches!......

I have had this phone for 3 weeks. It is an ok phone. Only thing I really dont like is how fast the battery runs down. I use to have a little LG flip phone and I only charged it once a week. This one is like every other day and more if I go to the media mall. I was also disappointed when I downloaded a message alert tone from the AT&T ringtone page only to find out you cant use it as a message tone. Since I text alot I thought it would be cute to have animal sounds as alerts. Other than these two things it is a pretty little phone and I was able to get it in green which is my favorite color. ......

This is a great entry level texting phone for all the text message whores out there. Despite all the pictures advertising the phone, it only appears to be big and bulky but it's the complete opposite. The phone is actually very slim & slender. I love that it comes in 3 different colors (Green, Blue, & Rose White) and probably more on the way. I picked up the green one and i love it. I originally purchased the Samsung Epix PDA phone and was so disappointed by the awful operating system and returned it right away. Finally the Samsung Propel hits the stores and it's basically a PDA smart phone without the Window Mobile operating system (Which is awful by the way). I love the Samsung Menu and UI. It's easy to use and just navigating through it is a breeze. You don't even need to look at the manual to operate this thing. The one downside to the Propel is that the screen could be a bit bigger and the colors could be a bit more vibrant. You only get 65K colors as oppose to the usual Samsung high end phones that come with 262K colors. So, that was one of the disappointments with this phone. Samsung knew this phone was strictly for the teens so i can see why the price is so cheap. Considering the friendly price is probably a big reason why you don't get the 262K colors. Another flaw is the Instant Messaging. You do get AIM & Yahoo but the buddylist is not in real time. You will only be able to see a few friends on your buddylist not all. But if you IM them they will respond even though they appear to not be signed in. The best thing about my Sidekick LX is that IM is in real time. I signed on from both devices and had about 50 friends on my buddylist appear on my SK while the Propel only had 3. As i stated before even though only 3 appear you can still IM the ones that don't appear and chat with them. Also AT&T for some reason is so stingy with the accessories. I wish it came with an additional USB charger, free micro SD memory card, or a case. Unfortunately NONE. All you get is the cell & wall charger. Overall i am very pleased with my purchase and recommend anyone looking for a texting phone or any device that might come close to a Sidekick on the AT&T network, this would be the phone 4 u.

I bought this phone after returning the Nokia 6650, because I had a difficult time trying to understand how to use the Nokia 6650. Before I bought this phone I was a die-hard Nokia user, but that has all changed now. The Samsung Propel is so easy to use. I love it. Texting is so easy to do on the Samsung Propel. I only use one hand to text. No need for two hands. I haven't had to use the instruction manual yet. I have the blue-black phone, but they also come in red-black, white-red, and green.
The only con that I can say about the phone is the battery life if you use it a whole lot. But that's not really bad, because it only takes a few minutes to juice up once you start charging the battery. Just keep a car charger or wall charger handy.
Again, this is a great phone. It's just the right size to fit into the universal phone case that I used to keep my Motorola and Nokia phones in.......

I bought this phone because I finally entered the world of text messages and my beloved Pink Razr was not living up to the task. I wanted something small but with a full keyboard. After comparing this with the Centro, I found that this keyboard was much more user-friendly. I also like that it snaps closed. Normally, I only review things I really love, but I felt so disappointed in this phone/T-Mobile regarding this phone, I feel prospective buyers may want to know this stuff. I wish I would've.

PROS:

1). The phone looks/feels snazzy and I didn't have many issues with the actual touch screen, like a lot of people seem to claim they do. I thought it was perfectly operational and I preferred the touch screen Qwerty keyboard to that of the iPhone, just for the record. Samsung makes good, sturdy, straightforward products, which I enjoy.

2). The 5 megapixel camera. Although sometimes switching settings could be a pain, when you want to take a fast night shot or something, but that would probably be the case with most phones/cameras. However, the pictures come out great!

3). It reads up to a 16GB MicroSD card, which is nice for storing those 5 megapixel pictures, along with enough space to store music that'd last you a few days, if you were to listen to it straight through.

4). You can play videos, although it took me awhile to find the exact resolution, file type and size to get it to play and look/sound decent.

5). Phone call quality is very good.

CONS:

1). T-Mobiles coverage/service, how they limit the phone (from 3rd party applications, such as google maps), they don't allow tethering (using your phone as a modem for your laptop when you aren't around WiFi) and how they really don't ever solve anything for you when you call to get something fixed--at least not with this phone. To their credit, after talking to 3 different people (all of whom had to be told every issue I had with the phone at least twice), I was able to get them to cancel my service early for $50 instead of $200. And also, I never had many issues with T-Mobile before "upgrading" to this phone, to be fair.

2). The GPS! The main reason I bought this phone was for the GPS. They offer it on this phone through Telenav for an additional $9.99/mo and it worked for me maybe a total of 4 times in the 7 months I had this phone. I called many times to see about getting it fixed, they all told me to do the same things and basically came to the conclusion that "it is not very user friendly unless you are in a bigger city". There was silence on the other end of the line when I said, "I live in Boston." I also tried it on many visits to Manhattan, THE big city, just to see if it would work and the same thing would happen: it froze at 96 percent and then gave the error, "need better sky view." When I took the issue to Telenav's customer service, they were at least honest and said, "it just doesn't work well with that phone." Go figure. Then why offer it with the phone?

3). The web! I was expecting to get a full HTML browser because that is what they say this has, but it actually does not. I don't even know what you would call what it has. However, since the GPS was not reliable, I soon realized that I could go to mobile MapQuest to at least get out of being lost, or find my way somewhere in a pinch--just with directions though, no map. That is, if the 3G network would actually work!

4). The 3G network! Really, I got "cannot connect to server," or some kind of error like that almost 3 times daily. When you pay extra for the internet and the phone is not capable of connecting to existing WiFi connections, that is not something you want to have happen that often.

5).The internal email client. I set up my gmail account on there and it would rarely connect. Also, if you read a full message, or send an email message from your phone, it uses megabytes from your data plan, which is just lame.

6). Not entirely sure what this was about, more T-Mobile than the phone, but it was so frustrating! My mom, who was one of "my faves" couldn't call me. For about 3 months she would get a "not a working number" message when she would try to call me. I spent HOURS on the phone with T-Mobile trying to figure this out and they kept trying to blame it on my mom's carrier, but she used a land line and she could call my sister, who also had T-Mobile!? Very strange.

To wrap this up, the phone itself is not a bad phone, but I think paired with T-Mobile it isn't the best duo. Especially when you go to message boards for the phone and people in other countries, who have this phone with a different carrier, can do all sorts of awesome things with it. I guess all American carriers limit their phones, I am sure it has to do with investors/advertisers who pay to have their products used on the phone, but since switching to Verizon, I can say there are at least alternatives for the 3rd party applications they don't allow.

I hope this wasn't too rant-y. I tried to be as fair as possible.

I've been with T-mobile for over 7 years now and I've never had any issues with their phones or service, until now. Well, the service is still fine, the phone wasn't. First of all, I think when you're a customer for so long, they should give you a better deal than $329 for this phone. Not worth it. For a new customer, $30 is a steal.

Anyway, on to the phone. The design is great, it's slim, but weighty enough to where I don't feel as though it will break if accidentally dropped (not that I've ever done that...). I've never owned a touchscreen before, and I wanted a phone with web access. I've read good reviews, but I don't agree with them.

first of all, the camera quality is not up to par for a claim of 5 mp! I know it's a camera phone, but it's touted as though it's something spectacular, when it isn't. The menu to take a picture has so many options, there is nothing that says, "Save". It's difficult to navigate back to the picture you just took once you figure out where it went. And I'm fairly tech savvy.

At home I would get 4-5 bars anywhere in the house, and at work I would get 2-3 depending on where I was. With the Behold, I get 2 bars at home if I stay in one spot, and 1 at work if I lay the phone on the desk and don't lift it up. So the web/email function is essentially useless. Outside I generally get 4-5 bars, but it's not as consistent as my old phone the Motorola W series.

I found calls to hard to hear, but the quality was fairly good.

I like the functions on the phone as far as what it offers, but the touchscreen is extremely frustrating in terms of scrolling. I dialed several people's numbers just trying to scroll through my phonebook! And forget the web!

The virtual QWERTY keyboard is a nice touch, but like the first reviewer mentioned, most sentences end?up?looking?like?this. I hate T9 entry, and it was annoying to have to shut it off constantly. That should be a function you turn on, not the default.

The battery life is appalling. If you don't use the phone much, you may get 2 days charge out of it, but otherwise, you're looking at one day. My Motorola can go for 4+ days, and it's 18 months old.

All in all, I realize no phone can be perfect. I'm still within my 'buyers remorse' period, and I will be returning it and sticking with my Motorola until I find something better. Tmobile had no explanation for the lack of reception. Maybe mine was a dud, but I doubt it.

I've had this phone for a week and will be returning it. There are a lot of things I like about this phone, but the bad qualities outweigh them.

The good:
-The touch screen works great. I have fat fingers and I've been really impressed with how easy it is to type.
-The browser works well. I only have the tzones internet - not the $25 plan, so I guess some functionality is lost, but it works fine for my purposes.
-Call quality is great and the volume is good. The speaker phone works well.
-Good voice command system - was very accurate.
-The GPS works nicely on this phone, but it's too expensive.

The bad:
-It's too hard to actually call anyone! As another review noted, you have to scroll through the alphabet to jump to a letter. It scrolls too fast and is annoying.
-The phone doesn't have "autocomplete" for phone numbers. This phone replaced A sony-ericsson tm506, which does have that feature. I really like it.
-If you get a call from a contact and do not have the contact's area code stored, then the caller ID doesn't find the contact in your phone book, so it only displays the phone number and not the persons name. Most of my contacts are in my own area code and the numbers are stored on the sim card without the area code, so I would have to add the area code to them in order to get their names to show up on the caller ID. I have used this sim card with 6 different phones and this is the first one that had this issue.
-The thing I hate most about this phone is that shortcuts are limited to the preloaded widgets that come with the phone, so if you often use functions that don't include a widget, you're out of luck. There are 20 widgets, but the call log is not among them.
-The lag time on the camera is so ridiculously slow that the camera is useless. I'd rather have had a 3mp camera with a reasonable speed.

If you're not bothered by the phonebook issue (or are willing to use the voicedialing to compensate) and are happy with the included widgets, you might be really happy with this phone.......

+ Bluetooth syncs at ease, but there is one issue that I have with it. I am not able to change the volume for my headset on the phone, has to be done on the headset which can be annoying, especially if you had it on loud the last time you used it. Not sure if this is on all headset types, but this is how it acts for my Jawbone 2

+ Great battery life, the best phone I've ever had for this. Lasts me a couple days with light use and including some Internet browsing; if multimedia is used, especially GPS, battery can drain very fast

+ Camera works wonderfully, taking great photos with the exception of the panoramic shot, doesn't always blend the photos together correctly

- GPS has something to be desired, works ok, but if the signal drops, then it can be very difficult to re-connect. I practically have to exit out of the program and start it up again

- Web pages can load up weird if not in mobile form, so it can be bothersome if you want to see the web page in its natural form

- The QWERTY keyboard is USELESS!!! The letters are so small that you really need to have a stylus to use it. If you use the T9 system to type, which is all I have ever used before this, then I wouldn't worry about the QWERTY feature at all.

All in all there are a few quirks, but the phone works great for what I use it for and am EXTREMELY pleased with it. This is my second Samsung phone the other one being a T809; I would never go back to a Motorola again.......

This is an excellent phone. In the past week I have owned the Blackberry Storm and took it back because it kept locking up. The Dare, a good phone but navigating through contacts is not as easy as it should be, so I took it back and left verizon for tmobile. First off go get the phone from WALMART, it is really inexpensive and you don't have to get a data plan.

Anyways, this phone is perfect for me. Screens are easy to navigate, menus are straigtforward, and my personal favorite any song you load on the phone can be used as a ringtone. The touchscreen is nice and responsive and the keys are "true" meaning if you hit L you will get an L on the screen. I have large hands(I am 6'4") and texting is not a problem. Keep in mind this is a PHONE, not a smart phone. If you plan on being on the net all the time, this might not be the phone for you.

The only draw back is that I don't think this a true 5 megapixel camera because picture quality was just okay and it takes forever to snap a shot. Fine for people sitting still, but not if you are trying to get a kid to hold a pose or trying to sneak in a picture of some local crazy person you see walking the street. ......

I just received this phone yesterday. I was excited to get a "real" phone that I could do some serious texting on. This isn't it. I bought this phone for its rugged specifications. I'm an active person (firefighter) and I thought I'd like some additional protection. The specs are nothing more than window dressing. The phone got wet, admittedly immersed, and failed.

When warranty work was sought, Samsung simply voided the warranty for the reason of "moisture."

I purchased this phone primarily because of its ruggedness, and on that score it's fine. As an old guy (not old enough for a Jitterbug), I won't use 90% of the features but those I want are lacking. I wanted voice dial: nada. With all the bells and whistles available, why can't we record a call? How often are you in a position to jot down info a caller provides?

THE YELLOW MODEL MAY NOT BE A GOOD CHOICE. With the military specs and all, I thought this phone would be a tank. In the first hour after I bought it, I placed the phone in my pocket with my old phone, a Sony Ericsson W810i. I later noticed scratches all over the front plastic panel of the Rugby. Over the next few weeks, I also noticed mysterious dark stains appearing on the yellow rubberized coating. It appears that whatever this colored material is made of is picking up stains that can't be removed, almost as if the coating was wearing off to expose a darker material beneath. It's worth noting that I keep this phone in a zipper pouch designed for a small digital camera, so there is no friction applied to the phone. I treated my phone's exterior to Vinylex protectant in hopes this will reduce the absorption qualities of the yellow coating. Looks like a snap-on cover will be required for true protection. I also noticed that the hinge has more play than I would have expected for this type of phone and more than I would like to see.

Otherwise, the phone isn't bad. I like the size and feel of the keypad - with the exception that the clear key is too close to the navigation keys; a small ridge between the two would help prevent pressing clear when you had wanted to hit the down function of the navigation key. Talk quality is good as is the battery life. Push-To-Talk does not have a means to shut it off, so you will constantly hit the button by mistake and be prompted whether you want to accept the charges of that feature. I was surprised that the small 1.3mp camera actually takes pretty good pics.

Actually a good phone overall, but it would be more durable with a protective cover - which then would eliminate the novelty of the yellow "DeWalt tools" color scheme.

UPDATE (2/8/09): YELLOW MODEL WAS A BAD CHOICE. I now know that the yellow coating absorbs anything with grease or dyes that it comes in contact with. The black and red from the inside of the carrying pouch I keep this phone in is being soaked up by the yellow coating. Again, this staining cannot be removed. It appears that Samsung neglected to do proper R&D on this coating - anything else on the phone? A hard yellow plastic shell would have been far superior. Unless you purchase a clip-on cover (which I am looking into), this phone can only be stored in something like a cotton bag that has not been dyed - unless you don't care if the phone looks dirty and old. Functionally the phone might be military spec, but esthetically it is the least durable phone I've ever seen. Samsung blew it with their choice of cover material. Also, I've seen a demo model of this phone in an AT&T store where the speaker grill on the front was badly dented and the paint scratched off. It's unfortunate when you spend a lot of time researching something only to find out after you finally bought it that you made the wrong choice. If you want the Rugby, get it in black.

Received the Rugby in 2 days. I knew it didn't support voice dial, figured I could get used to that. But what really suprised me, and is a constant annoyance is the outer display. It turns completely off within 5 seconds of closing the phone. There is nothing in setup to configure it differently. What is the point of even having an outer display, especially a 65,000 color display, if it is never on for more than 5 seconds? Furthermore, the display does not respond to any buttons on the outside of the phone. You have to actually open, then close the flap to check the time, or to see if you have missed a call.( a two handed operation). It does not even light when connected to the charger. It appears dead unless it is handled constantly.
This complaint may seem insignificant, but I am a carpenter/ woodworker, I use loud machinery, so I miss a lot of calls, and I do not wear a watch. I keep my phone on the bench near where I am working, and often glance at the phone to check for missed calls, or the time. Sometimes I have glue on my hands- even paint- I can't be picking up and manipulating the phone every few minutes. This phone is being marketed as a workingman's device, but it falls way short.
It is a fairly large size, a bit large for jeans pocket, but one could get used to it. The speakerphone is excellent. Loud. Very Loud. I would be extremely satisfied with this phone if not for the front display issue. ......

I like this phone but I wish I would have known in advance that I would not be able to install ring tones and other Mac sounds/music on it. Had I known this I would have purchase and IPhone instead. ......

I purchased this phone for my fiance at the same time I purchased my Palm Centro. We found that the rugby is not as advertised. First of all, the phone gets horrible reception. In areas where my Palm would get at least 2 bars, the Rugby get no signal or even worse, goes into emergency mode. The calls constantly drop or the phone does not ring at all. Secondly, the back pops off when dropped. For a phone that's supposed to be tough, it hardly lives up to expectations. At this point, the back has been damaged and after talking to both AT&T and Samsung, neither company could replace the back or explain the poor cell signal. It's just been a terribly disappointing experience, and I don't think we'll ever buy Samsung again.......

Bought two of these phones 5 months ago; my wife and I love them. My wife had gone through 3 phones in a year due to various accidents. We have both put these phones through their paces: dropping, throwing, kids playing with them, at the beach, in the water, etc. The phones continue to perform well. We are not frills-oriented folks; this phone is a good communications tool that survives tough treatment.......

This phone suits me perfectly. It fits in my hand, extends from my ear to my mouth and best of all is solid and rugged. It feels like it will never break. It has a lot of wireless capabilities (internet,video,GPS, Push-To-Talk, etc.) but through AT&T I've inactivated these. I don't really want to pay extra for this stuff since I have my laptop with me quite a bit and it does for me what I need. I've had this phone now for three months with really no complaints. The camera takes pretty decent pictures too. It has USB connectivity so pictures/video can be directly downloaded to a computer.

There are better reviews in phone sites. Bottom line, it can call, that's really all this phone is good for, but I knew this buying this product. The OLED screen is awesome, but useless if you only going to call on it. No wifi, or a GPS receiver, just that ATT assisted GPS. Didn't want the data, so I put on data block on it.

About the Amazon retailer, be careful, I am not saying they will rip you off, but they could if you don't follow the rules. For the first 6 months these rules apply, after which you can do whatever you want. Read it on their website, it's pretty clear, but I ll just say a few key things. You have to pay your bills on time, you can't downgrade your service, and I think you can't use the phone with another sim card. So in terms of service just get the bare minimum, and if you want the other features just add it later, which is better than getting stuck with services that you don't need or want later.

I must say this, this phone has the better resistive touch screen in the market, and switching between landscape and portrait is also the fastest I have seen yet. ......

This is more a review of Amazon than it is of the phone. I ordered the phone through Amazon, with the specification that I wanted to KEEP my old phone number.

I received the phone promptly.... without a MANUAL. While setting up the phone with AT&T, they said that sometimes things get left out when buying with other providers. Now, this wouldn't normally be a big deal because you can find whatever information you need on-line. But this is a really complicated phone!!!! I couldn't make heads or tails of anything I was looking at. Once you know where everything is, I imagine it would be much easier to operate. But I had issues.

And then I was informed that because of a glitch in Amazon's site, that my old number had not transferred over to my new phone. And because where I live now has a different area code than my original number, AT&T couldn't make the transfer for me. So now I have to return everything. So much for trying to save some dough.......

I've had this phone for a month now and I really like it. The reason for 4 stars is the web browser. When I get a message or try to get online sometimes its says forbidden and I would have to turn it off and turn it back on and it worked but it got old after awhile. Called at&t and they said it was issue samsung was working on and aware of. I called amazon and they sent a replacement right away. Love Amazon. My new phone has not gave me that error, let's keep our fingers crossed. Texting is a breeze with this phone and the touch screen is amazing. The only other thing I can say is a downfall is the sound. Seems like the alarm doesn't ring as loud as my old cell phone, but maybe I need to check on the settings and make sure it's set high as possible. Overall this is a great phone. A must have for people who text alot. I also like the fact that you don't have to have internet as with the iphone (30.00 extra) and that's why I got this phone. I have had my Impression for about a week. I really love this phone. It has a great keyboard, has a nice feel in your hand, the viewscreen is ample and it has all the bells and whistles. The only issue I have is that the battery life is very short. I can only use it for 2 days before I have to charge it. If I used it a lot, I could understand that, but I make maybe one or two short calls and send maybe 15-20 texts in that two days - not what I call heavy use. Overall, I highly recommend this phone, just make sure you have both a wall charger and a car charger because you're gonna need them. ......

I was so excited about getting this phone! Read all the reviews and specs, I couldn't wait, my only fear was with AT&T. Years ago, I had their service and it was bad, but thought I'd give them another try since many seemed happy.

Well there are many things I love about this phone, great for texting, very responsive touchscreen, very fast web browser, good picture and call quality to name a few.

What I didn't like was the volume of the ring tones were too soft, if I were outside, I could barely hear it ringing, also the vibration mode, I could barely feel it vibrate, but I was still willing to keep it despite these drawbacks.

The dealbreaker for me, is when I went into my local Pathmark supermarket and had absolutely no signal, no 3G, no gsm, nada! I couldn't call or text. To me this was unacceptable, I could understand if I were in a subway or elevator, but a store thats in a major city, NY, please! And I always got service in this store using Sprint and Verizon.
It seemed to be the same old AT&T. Some things never change.
I need a phone that I can depend on, a phone that will ring if someone is trying to call, if I'm paying top dollar with a 2 year subscription, I expect good service.
I doubt that it was because of the Impression, I blame the carrier.
Needless to say I returned the phone, I'm sure there were probably other places where I wouldn't get reception, but I wasn't willing to wait that long to find out.
The LG envy touch is coming out June 5th, gonna give that a try. ......

I strongly suggests against buying this cell, especially when the Blackberry Bold is currently $50 only. Here is the breakdowns of why this cellphone does not worth it, even when it is free. Thanks to Amazon great customer service first, for replacing my cell many times due to the problems mentioned soon here.

One thing to note, although this cellphone has touch screen like the iphone or the G1, the touch screen technology used in this Samsung is pressure-based, unlike both of them. This means, you WILL, again, you WILL, miss-press the button again and again and again. You may think that practice make perfect, but when you are texting or writing a message so fast that you missed a letter, going back by touching on the location is very difficult. I have small fingers and I have trouble with the touch screen even after months of usage

GOOD THINGS:
1. Looks slick. Super slick. Beautiful screen, simple, elegant design
2. 3 MP camera is decent
3. Screen produces vibrant, nice and sharp color
4. Excellent battery. one single charge can last me for days
5. Decent internet access program (Medianet)
6. It vibrates every time you press anything. Excellent idea
7. Great program to sync with your PC and outlook contacts
8. Simple, nice MP3 player, good sound quality
9. Convenient lock button
10. JAVA: Gmaps, apps (not many of those), and games

BAD THINGS:
1. It is slick, literally. Very easily slip off your hand if you are not careful

2. No auto focus, no flash

3. Bad touch screen. It is pressure-based, so you will touch the wrong target. OFTEN.

4. Bad sound quality, dropped calls, and calls suddenly go off. I have tried 2 cellphones and still have the same problem. I am switching to the Bold now

5. No quick dial. You think it is ok? NO. every time you want to make a call and have to find your contact, you have to scroll by their first letter. Which is difficult. Say for example, you are trying to scroll to Glenn. Since it is hard, then you will find yourself scrolling to letter F or H often, and scroll the contact manually. However, if you do not have contacts with first letter F or H, you will be returned to A. And scroll down manually through your contacts, or just try again. Trust me, even if you cant understand this, this is annoying and you'd wish you'd listen to me after you've purchased this cell.

6. Every single phone call you make, takes 5 touches. Not including the aforementioned struggle in scrolling the contacts. This is too much. really.

7. Bugs. Lots of them. Example: the ringtone is always increasing in volume. So the ringtone starts small and gradually getting stronger and there is no way you can change this through the menu without hack per this time.

8. Another bug example. You can never be sure that you have exited a program. You can use the red key, but there is no feedback whether the program has closed or just minimized. Using the back key, will prompt you with "sure to exit" question, but if you are in the browser, you will have to go back through your pages until your first opened page before you can exit.

9. This thing is basically one money source for Cingular. This cell has loads of potential, say GPS, tv, and all that. However, most of the capabilities are nickel and dimed by Cingular. For example: you can only use ringtone up to 300kb in size, which is small. This is because Cingular wants you to buy MP3 ringtones from them. You cannot use GPS without paying extra. Out of 12 items in the menu, 6 of them require extra charge from Cingular. Be forewarned!!

10. Lots lots of not-so thoughtful functionality or layout or design. Example: It is easy to change the profile mode from silent to normal, driving, etc. Problem is, if you miss-touch it (both options are very close together), you will go to edit the profile mode. So, you will often accidentally when trying to go to normal profile mode ended up reducing the sound to the minimum. Another example: There are widgets, which is the shortcuts, or Samsung version of windows sidebar. But you cannot choose your own widgets except those that are already pre-set.

Anyhow, the summary is, this cellphone looks awesome (albeit very i-phone like, or i-phone wannabe). For you that want to look cool without being along with the i-Apple crowd, this is the right cellphone for you. However, as another reviewer already mentioned, this cell fails big time as a communication device. Please do not get this cell, get other lots of better options. I used to use Samsung a lot but now, meh.........

First off I would like to say, this is a great phone, it arrived in just two days via UPS. The keyboard may take some getting use to, however when you get use to it, it becomes a breeze. Since I mainly use the phone for Texting and Calling, I love that this touchscreen doesn't MAKE you get a data plan. That's an extra 30 bucks saved. I have 450 Rollover Minutes and Unlimited Texting.

PLEASE READ THIS WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE STORY:

Amazon accidentally sent me two samsung eternities and two working sim cards. Of course, I didn't want to get two bills in the mail! So what did I do? I called Customer Service. I use to have Boost Mobile, horrible customer service! But AT&T, everyone spoke loud and clear, they were easy to understand, and they were very friendly people! It's amazing how they canceled the extra line in less than 5 minutes of me being on the line. And if you get put on hold, every minute you are on there, a specialist checks on you and lets you know how much longer so you don't have to be wondering if it is going to be 5 minutes longer or 15? So of course, that was nice. I absolutely enjoy being with AT&T and I will NEVER go back to ANY other service provider.

HERE IS A SOLUTION TO NO SPEED DIAL:

You may think your contacts go in order from A-Z, however they go from NUMBERS to LETTERS.

Go back to the contacts you want, and list them from 1 to 7 the order you want them in. For example:

1 Mom
2 Dad
3 Rebecka
4 Sam
5 Brody
6 Uncle Brad
7 Bill

So in 3 clicks, you're calling! Hope that helps with the "no speed dial" complaint!

I had a stroke four years ago and I needed a phone that I can use with only one hand. This phone is great for that. It does a lot of neat things also!!

Samsung dropped the ball on this one. I was using Blackjack and wanted the next generation device from Samsung. I have chosen Eternity as it looked good and reviews are not bad. But my experience with Eternity as a phone is pretty bad and I have gone back to using my Blackjack.

Eternity phone lacks several smart features you will find in competing phones such as ease of use, touch pad sensitivity, naviagtion, Radio reception, voice quality and several such features.

The GSM Radio on Eternity is pretty weak and you cannot get a signal inside a medium sized building. Forget making calls if you are in a basement. Touchpad does not work the way you anticipate it to. Making calls by finding contacts is a pain in the neck. It does not display missed calls for immediate dialing as a drop down list. You cannot scroll down or up a list without touching the screen as there is no hardware scroll button on the phone like Blackjack do. This is my biggest gripe.

The phone is heavy and very slippery and I tend to drop it more than a few times a day.

I ordered this phone about 2 weeks ago and i've had it for about a week. I love it! i used to have the iphone until i got bored with it. i love the touch screen, its really responsive. so far it hasnt locked up on me. the iphone locked up on me about once a week. the battery is good too. i got the 8 gig memory card for it too and it works fine with it. Overall i love this phone, and the fact that its through at&t. They have been good to me. i would reccomend this phone to anyone!! ......
